Biography

Formed in 1989 and consisting of members of Crossfire, Ostrogoth, Stainless Steel and Universe, this band created great melodic rocktunes with awesome riffs and catchy choruses. Their self-titled debut from 1991 received great critical acclaim worldwide and is still considered by many to be a classic rock album.

The single “She Likes Double Trouble” was used in the movie “Koko Flanel” which attracted more than 1,000,000 viewers in the theaters and featured our national comedian Urbanus.

In their heyday, MYSTERY shared the stage with Phantom Blue, Gotthard and Magnum and also performed with the late Paul Di’Anno (ex-Iron Maiden) as a special guest.

During the nineties, the arrival of grunge drastically changed the musical landscape, causing the general public to lose interest. After their second album “Backwards” in 1994, the band slowly faded and eventually quit. Until now!!

 

MYSTERY’s original line-up consisted of some of Belgium’s finest rock musicians making it not easy to find a worthy replacement for some of the original members. The original lead-singer for example, Peter De Wint, suffers health issues making it impossible to rejoin the band. Chris Taerwe (keyboards) unfortunately had to step down from the reunion, due to his commitments as CEO of established piano specialty store 'Quatre Mains'. Geert Annys is the only original remaining member. Possessing a lot of experience and an extensive career, he is the foundation and pillar of the band.

He is now joined by vocalist Sammy Peleman (After All, Shocker, Rik Priem's Prime), drummer Jonathan Braeckman (23 Acez, In Motion, Novastone), bass player Hans Six (Neo-Prophet, Yosh) and Walter Deweppe.

Rest assured that these new faces bring a breath of fresh air to those classic songs.
